“The  Manifesto” articulates the vision and demands of the BPMH Task Force, a coalition of students, alumni, faculty, and community supporters mobilized in 2026 to oppose the proposed closure of the BPMH program. It argues that the suspension of enrolment into a thriving, internationally recognized program reflects broader questions about university governance, transparency, and accountability, while contradicting institutional commitments to student well-being, anti-Asian racism initiatives, transdisciplinary education, and community engagement. The manifesto presents BPMH as a distinctive model of higher education that integrates contemplative science, non-Eurocentric knowledge traditions, experiential learning, and student flourishing. It concludes with a call for the immediate reversal of the enrolment suspension, a transparent and evidence-based review process grounded in meaningful consultation, and renewed institutional investment in a program that exemplifies the values the University publicly professes.

“The Complaint” documents the handling of the proposed closure of the BPMH Program between 2023 and 2026, arguing that the process departed significantly from the University’s established standards of governance, quality assurance, and procedural fairness. It outlines concerns regarding the disregard of a positive external program review, the reliance on an inadequately informed working group, the dissemination of inaccurate information, the suspension of enrolment prior to any formal closure process, and the failure to undertake meaningful consultation with faculty, students, alumni, and community partners. The complaint further examines the cumulative effects of these administrative actions on the program’s academic viability, research partnerships, fundraising, and international reputation, as well as the governance concerns subsequently raised by the University of Toronto Faculty Association. It concludes by requesting independent review and remedial action to restore transparency, accountability, and compliance with University policy while safeguarding the integrity of academic decision-making.
